Emerging edge computing and IoT vendors to know in 2022

One of the areas of the IT sector that is still rapidly developing is edge computing and the Internet of Things.

Here are three startups working on cutting-edge edge computing and Internet of Things technologies that solution providers should be aware of.

Living On The (IT) Edge

The Internet of Things and edge computing are two of the IT industry's fastest-growing sub-sectors.

A novel distributed computing model called "edge computing" brings computation and data storage capabilities close to data sources.

The global market for edge computing hardware, software, and services is expected to grow at a CAGR of 19.0 percent from $36.5 billion in 2021 to $87.3 billion in 2026, according to a recent MarketsandMarkets analysis.

According to a MarketsandMarkets prediction, the global market for IoT hardware, software, and services reached $300.3 billion last year and is anticipated to reach $650.5 billion in 2026, growing at a CAGR of 16.7 percent.

Large manufacturers like Cisco Systems and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise dominate the edge computing and IoT markets. However, given that these technologies are still in their infancy, startups creating edge computing and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions exert an outsized influence on how these fields grow.

Here's a look at three startups launched in 2016 or later that are creating edge computing and IoT technologies that solution providers may leverage to create solutions for their clients as part of CRN's Emerging Vendors for 2022.
